On May 26, 2024, the “wonderful” weather of Texas destroyed the first floor of my childhood home. For months on end, we struggled with contractors and insurance who refused to complete their end of the deal. After they agreed to pay their part, the walls were ripped out to the studs, the floors were concrete, and there was no way to function in the stove-less, oven-less kitchen. There were now 6 people living in under one roof… it was overwhelming to say the least. Although it was chaotic, the time living together was entertaining and filled with love. The Flood is a twenty+ piece collection that reflects my perspective and emotions during this catastrophic event.
